Boiler (Vailliant EcoTec Plus 835 Green IQ)
We had a customer who had recently moved into a new property. The boiler had already played up a couple of times and some money had been spent on it, but when it went wrong again, and given the age of the boiler they decided a new boiler was the best solution. We discussed a few options, but settled on the Vaillant EcoTec Plus 835 Green IQ. This is Vaillants top of the range model, offering excellent efficiency and superb reliability. It uses a larger heat exchanger to extract even more heat from the gas being burned compared to a regular condensing boiler. We always try to work with Vaillant boilers. They’re Which? Best Buy boilers, and they have superb reliability.
Controls (Vsmart)
Fit the right thermostat, and the boiler will be even cheaper to run! With this we installed the Vsmart thermostat to control the times and temperature of the heating. The vsmart is a smart thermostat and uses ‘Load Compensation’ and ‘Weather Compensation’. Using these two processes, the boiler uses less gas to get your home to the correct temperature, making it cheaper to run. The added bonus is that you can control it from your phone – no heating an empty home, and you can control it with Amazon Alexa aswell.
Filter (Brass System)
We installed a Brass system filter on the boiler which filters the system water before it re-enters the boiler. This means it captures any magnetic debris that may be circulated, stopping it entering the boiler. This maintains the longevity of the boiler, and importantly keeps the boiler as efficient as possible.
Gas
As is sometimes the case when installing a modern condensing boiler, the gas pipe needed upgrading. We discussed the options with the customer, and given the house had laminate floor, running it internally in this case was not an option. So we ran the pipe externally, which was the cheaper option, but we took time to remove and refit the front step to hide the pipe and keep it as neat and unobtrusive as possible.
Replacing a boiler is the opportunity to make sure the money you are spending is getting you the most efficient system you can, so that you can start to see your heating and hot water bills come down. This system comes with a 10 year manufacturers warranty, so as long as the customer has it serviced annually, it means they are safe in the knowledge the boiler will give them a MINIMUM of 10 years.
